Chris Houston is a dedicated husband and father who values health, education, family, and friends. Currently based in the Newcastle area, Chris works with EquiEnergy Youth, delivering various workshops and training courses.
Driven by a passion for guiding, educating, and supporting others, Chris pursued a Bachelor of Education. His dedication to helping others extends beyond the classroom, as he has also enjoyed a distinguished 13-year career as a professional sportsman. Chris played 10 years in the NRL with the Newcastle Knights and St George Illawarra Dragons and spent 3 years overseas in the English Super League with the Widnes Vikings.
Throughout his athletic career, Chris thrived in high-pressure, result-driven environments and was actively involved in leadership groups at all three clubs. He had the honor of captaining each team, showcasing his leadership skills and dedication.
After retiring from professional sports, Chris furthered his education in the mental health field, completing a Certificate in Counselling. He became a Mental Health First Aid facilitator, a Mental Health Response facilitator, and a Coach to Cope facilitator.
Chris believes that every young person, regardless of their background or current path, has the potential to excel with the right guidance and support. Empowering them to achieve their best is his ultimate goal.
